Rocky Mountain Horses and Kentucky Mountain Horses

Well, winter hit us with a vengance.  We got over 15 inches, maybe more of snow that accumulated Friday, Jan 22 through Saturday night the 23rd.  It was really pretty but we didn't need it all at once.  Our farm is about 8 miles from our house and we didn't have any trouble with the main roads, but the back road up to our gate was snow covered and slick.  Thankfully, hubby was driving and he got us there safe.  We had parked our tractor at the bottom of our hill so he went up and scraped 2-3 times and we did manage on Friday to get our truck up the hill.  However, the rest of the weekend our road was too bad to get our truck up there.  We used the tractor to transport us each day and thank goodness it was a lifesaver.

The horses were all happy and didn't even act like they were put out at all.  They all have shelters but everyone stayed outside and they all were warm and frisky.  Everyone had round rolls and plent of water in their heated tanks, so the storm to them was not much of a bother.   So blessed that it wasn't any worse.

This week's weather is supposed to be really nice and warmer.  Monday was 51 degrees and you can see and hear the snow already melting everywhere.  Hopefully we can get back to normal now.

Stay tuned!
