MARES AND FILLIES OF HIDDEN SPRINGS ROCKIES
We believe in riding our mares on the trails before we think about breeding them. They learn to be trail savvy and this really helps us assess their behavior around others and it keeps them in shape. This really makes for a well rounded mare that passes on her great attitude to her foals.
Our newest mare, Melanie Bleu
In September 2020 we welcomed Melanie Bleu (Mia) to our farm. She is a 19 year old chocolate mare with flaxen mane and tail and is really sweet. She had only been rode sporadically the last few years so in the spring she will go to a trainer to be refreshed and then I will see how she does on the trails.
She had 2 foals in the past with the last one being in 2007? so it's been a while. May keep her as a riding mare. She needs to lose a few pounds so she is only getting a handful of grain at this time with hay.

MF GAIL'S JOYA de TEJAS (Tia)
This girl is a wonderful addition to our herd. She is a silver grulla roan and foaled in April 2013. She has one copy of silver, one copy of roan, and one copy of dun. She has become an excellent trail horse and doesn't even act like a young horse. She has an excellent gait and has a calm nature to her. There are less than 10 horses of this color in the association.
Ms. Tia is due to foal around March 5, 2021. This foal will be for sale. She is bred to our stallion Blue Knight and this foal should gait like a dream. Stay tuned!

HSR DRIVING MS. DIVA (Diva)
This beautiful filly is a wonderful and beautiful addition to HSR. She is a rare Chocolate Roan or Silver Black roan (one copy silver and one copy roan) and she foaled May 3, 2014 here at HSR. At first we thought she was a chocolate filly as we could not see any white hairs anywhere on her coat. However, at her first foal shed around 4 months of age, to our surprise a lot of white was showing up on her body.
She is a dark chocolate color in the winter with a little roaning showing through here and there and her summer coat is a bluish/gray color with chocolate legs and face and a flaxen mane/tail. Very Striking!! She is sired by Remington's East, a blue roan stallion, and her dam Mountain Gait Peppermint Pattie. This girl is beautiful and friendly and gaits everywhere she goes.
She has come home from saddle training and went on her first camping trip in June 2017. She was excellent!! Stood still for mounting and dismounting, no spooks on the trails and went through the creeks like nothing.
She has now been on several rides and camping trips and has done excellent. Couldn't ask for a better girl to ride the trails with. She will only get better and better as she matures. I don't think I can part with her-she is so easygoing on the trails, not scared of anything, goes right through creeks, across bridges, etc. and does everything you need her to on the trail.

SOUTHFORTY SIMPLY PERFECTION (SIERRA)
This girl is a wonderful addition to our farm. She is a rare silver grulla mare that foaled 6-28-2011. She has the WOW of dun factor with her striped legs, cobweb markings on her forehead, shadowing on her shoulders and the dun stripe down her back. She has been saddle trained and certified through both associations and has been remarkable on the trails. She foaled a beautiful silver grulla roan filly in March 2016 that now resides in Minnesota and a red dun colt in 2017 who now lives in MD and in 2018 she foaled a beautiful grullo colt that lives in NC.
She has been confirmed in foal to our stallion, Blue Knight, for a May 2020 foaling. She will be my main riding horse this summer of 2019. She is a fantastic trail mare and broodmare also.
SHE FOALED A BEAUTIFUL DARK RED SORREL COLT. SEE OUR FOAL PAGE FOR PICTURES AND MORE INFORMATION.

LITTLE MISCHEVIOUS BABY
Below is our 14 year old KMSH mare, Baby. She came to us as a yearling and she was ridden a few years and then became a wonderful broodmare for our farm. Her foals are all easy to sell as they are nicely mannered, just the right height and beautiful. She is a red chocolate (silver bay) and stands 14-1 hands. While smaller but stocky in stature, she is the boss mare of our herd.

MOUNTAIN GAIT PEPPERMINT PATTI - PRISSY AND HER 2016 FOAL (DeeDee) WERE STRUCK AND KILLED BY LIGHTNING ON FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2016. IT WAS A TERRIBLE LOSS TO HIDDEN SPRINGS ROCKIES. WE REALLY MISS HER HERE BUT LOVE HAVING HER LAST FOAL (DIVA) HERE AT HSR WITH US. SHE HAS BECOME MY RIDING MOUNT FOR THE YEARS AHEAD.
